Princess Pirate

We went to a birthday party today for a family that's very dear to us & has seen us through some tough times (their lovely daughter is turning 3). It was princess & pirate themed, complete with inflatable pirate swords & princess tiaras. Of course, I wasn't shocked when Aria ran right over & grabbed both a tiara & sword. What I was surprised at was how vehemently she was willing to defend her mother...

Playing with another friend's 3 year old son, he kept hitting me with a sword & I crumpled to the ground (jokingly, of course), & hollered that I was hurt, etc, etc. It was all in good fun, & the funniest bit was that Aria was helping him to strike me down.

But then all of a sudden, she turns on her friend, starts whacking him with her sword, & yells out, "You don't hit my momma!!!"

That's right, little lady. No one hits your momma but you. I'm assuming she turned on him because she's not willing to share my willingness for abuse from toddlers. However, something tells me she really is ready to defend the woman who gave her life. :)
